QUST / Beethoven workshop

Welcome to QUST’s (Quantum and Semicon Tech in SH) first strategic workshop on Wednesday 28 May 2025, where we will work together on a shared agenda for the quantum and semiconductor sectors. With this agenda we can represent this region even better on the national stage, helping you finding your place in different initiatives. This is our first meeting, a starting point for building structural collaboration in a region where both worlds are already strong, but not yet connected.

Why this matters now?

Quantum stands to benefit enormously from semicon’s infrastructure, manufacturing expertise and process standards. And semicon, in turn, can push the boundaries of performance through quantum innovations such as new materials (graphene, superconductors, topological insulators) and ultra-precise testing and measurement techniques. A strong semiconductor and quantum industry is essential for Europe's strategic autonomy.

Although the Netherlands is home to leading semicon and quantum ecosystems – in South Holland, North Brabant, and the East – there is no structural platform in South Holland where these sectors consistently work together. That’s exactly what QUST aims to change.

Who we are bringing together?

QUST – short for Quantum & Semicon aan de Kust – is a new initiative managed by ImpaQT, with support from the Province of South Holland and InnovationQuarter that aims to strengthen collaboration and knowledge exchange between these two sectors. With this workshop, we want to identify joint priorities, stimulate innovation, and raise the profile of the South Holland cluster at national and European levels.

None of this will happen without people like you: decision-makers, researchers, innovators and ecosystem builders who understand the value of working across disciplines and technologies. Your input will directly shape QUST’s agenda, from shared roadmapping to skills development and better regional coordination.
