Beethoven South Holland joins forces to quickly increase the number of semi-talents
The Dutch semiconductor industry is growing rapidly and urgently needs more technical talent. The Beethoven South Holland program brings together educational institutions, companies, and government to increase the influx of technicians. With the Beethoven Regional Plan, we will create 1,000 additional training positions for technology students and 1,000 training and reskilling programs for workers over five years. This plan strengthens the collaboration between vocational education, higher education, and universities with the business sector and government. Together, we will train an additional 2,000 semiconductor technicians by 2030 and strengthen the innovation capacity and earning power of the Netherlands.
Investments and structural cooperation
To achieve this ambition, the government will invest 9.4 million euros in the South Holland region in the first phase (2025-2026). A total of 43 million euros has been reserved, supplemented with additional investments from the region. This underscores the importance of structural collaboration between education, industry, and government to keep the sector internationally competitive.
